Come with us on a semi-private tour to explore Thirassia. Meet the locals, walk through traditional paths and discover hidden cave houses! Are you ready for your amazing tour? Our unique excursion to Thirassia Island starts from the port of Ammoudi, close to Oia in the north of the island.
Meet a driver at your Santorini hotel for 5pm departure to Ammoudi, where you’ll continue to Thirassia by small boat, disembarking at the port of Korfos, inside the Caldera.
From this point set out on foot, climbing the 180 steps to the settlement of Manolas, and earning spectacular views along the way. If desired, you’ll have the option to skip the climb and ride a donkey to Manolas (additional expense).
The next stop is at Panorama Tavern, where you can take a break as the guide explains the founding, history, and culture of Thirassia Island, covering local agricultural specialties, wine production, and Greek traditions.
After the break, stroll through the village, where you’ll find an abandoned cave house, the village center, and the school. Leave the village behind on a hike through the countryside, passing vegetable gardens and a vineyard on your way to Akrilia, a deserted village full of cave houses that was once the biggest settlement on this island. Visit the Virgin Mary Church to discover Greek religious traditions. After visiting the stunning sunset you’ll make your way to Riva port, where you then enjoy a hearty Greek dinner with views of the Oia lights by night.
Following your time on Thirassia, begin the return trip to Santorini, where this tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel.
